Labels

Good day friends and foes.

As I step onto my shiny soapbox and grab my fabulously blinged out bullhorn, I feel the need to "relax, relate, release."

We are all individuals, which means that no one person is exactly the same as another. With that said, why do we feel the need to place labels on ourselves and others. Despite our similarities, we are all very different.

Straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, butch, nelly, fem, confused....

Does it really matter? Whose business is it anyway? We are all humans, we all desire love and affection. We shouldn't be put into a certain box because of who we choose to share those desires with. Love is a beautiful thing and if you're blessed to share love, cherish it.

People fail to realize, and some just don't care, that labeling causes grief, alienation, and loneliness. Those are horrible feelings, and no one should feel them because of ONE aspect of who they are. Life is hard enough without adding an unnecessary label to one's identity. So before you attach a label to yourself or anyone else, think about and appreciate how different we all are.

Well, it's time for me to step down & shine this baby up for the next time.

Peace, love, and fleur de lis!

Parenting

Ok. It's time for me to step up and balance myself on this lovely soapbox of mine.

I'm a firm believer that parenting is trial and error. However, somethings are rather common sense. For instance, lack of consistent discipline or no discipline at all, results in uncontrollable kids; substituting love and affection with material things, results in spoiled and unappreciative kids; breaking promises, creates heartbroken kids.

I'm not saying that parenting is an easy job. As a matter of fact, it may be considered hard by some. Needless to say, it's the most important job that one can have, if blessed with the opportunity. It can also be the most rewarding.

If a lifetime commitment is not something you want. Don't have kids. Wrap it up. Sew it up. Or pull it out. Being a parent is not for the weak. Parenting requires gut, wit, patience, understanding, and most importantly, unconditional love. If you can't handle it, pass the torch to someone who can.

Well, I guess it's time that I step down and shine this baby up for the next time.

Until then......peace, love, & fleur de lis!
